Day 2 for our crew at the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup in Porto Cervo!

The weather forecast of our navigator Juan Vila predicted strong winds and rain. And that’s exactly what happened! Before the crew docked out at 10.00 AM, heavy wind and storm sails were brought onboard today, for a low pressure cantered just west of Sardinia this morning and moving slowly north, therefore showers and unstable conditions through the whole day were forecasted. The course chosen by the racing committee was a 31 nautical miles long coastal race course from the start to – LIMA to starboard – INDIA to starboard – Isle of Spargi to starboard – LIMA to port – GOLF to port – KILO to port – BRAVO to starboard  and finishing again outside the harbour of Porto Cervo. The start was scheduled for 12.00 CEST but the weather got even worse during the day and finally the race was first postponed and then cancelled due to thunderstorm and strong winds, blowing with almost 30 knots and occasional gusts with up to 40 knots at the open seas!
